HYDRATE: Please remember to drink lots of water before, during, and after you ride. It is very important to stay hydrated. Rides can bring their own bottles and fill them at our filtered water stations or purchase cold bottled water from the front desk.
EAT: Please don’t attempt to ride on an empty stomach. Have a full meal a few hours before class or a light snack up to half-an-hour before.
WEAR: We suggest wearing form fitting pants or shorts and a light and breathable top. There is no need to bring a towel, we supply them.
SHOES: We supply cycling shoes at no extra cost on a first come first serve basis. You may also bring your own if you have them (spd clips). Although we recommend using cycling shoes to maximize performance, each bike is equipped with shoe cages if you prefer.
ARRIVE EARLY: Please make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes before class. The worst is feeling rushed before class. The team will help set you up on your bike and get you ready to go before you ride. Please note that if you do not arrive a minimum of 5 minutes before class we cannot guarantee that you will be allowed entry into class as priority is then given to those who are waitlisted and present.
CHECK IN: If you have booked online (recommended) look for the sign-in sheet at the front desk. We ask that you initial upon arrival. Your bike will be up for grabs if you have not signed in 5 minutes prior to the ride star ting. If you are not signed-in, we’ll assume you’re not here. We encourage all first time riders to choose bikes toward the back of the class so that they can get into the ride and follow along with the rhythm of the pack.
WAIVER: All first-time riders are required to fill out a waiver. The front desk will get you set up with a form when you first check-in at the studio. All riders are accountable for ensuring their waiver has been signed. All riders 16 years and under are required to have a parent or guardian’s signature in person.
RIDE SAFETY: Before your ride check in with your body and bike. Tighten all the handles on the bike and make sure your shoes are clipped in. Our instructors are here to push and motivate you! But please remember to listen to your body and work at a level that is most comfortable to you. The CYC’D team is always around to answer any questions you may have.
4 PART BIKE SET UP: The instructor or front desk will help you with your bike set-up. Please give yourself time to feel comfortable on your bike, test the tension, sit and stand – every bike is different.
There are four key parts to proper set up on the bike.
1. Seat Height
2. Handle Bar Height
3. Seat Fore / Aft position
4. Handle Bar Fore / Aft position
WEIGHTS: Classes incorporate an upper body weight workout using the supplied 2 through 4 pounds dumbells located behind each bike’s seat. Check them as you setup for the appropriate weight. Additional weights are located to the right of the instructor stage. Be aware, that they are deceptively heavy so you may want to start light on your first ride.
FANS/HVAC: The studio is equipped with down-drafting ceiling fans. The reservation seating chart indicates the position of these fans within the studio to allow you to choose your bike accordingly. Unique to CYC’D is a fresh air recirculation HVAC system continually supplying fresh outside air into the room. This prevents fatigue onset and creates the optimal conditions necessary for performance maximization.
